A few years ago, I came across a company in Canberra called Logikhaus who specialise in Triple Glazed Windows for Passive Houses.
I always thought that such a product was well above my pay grade, but something we could always dream to have.
European inwards opening windows have always appealed to me, so I conjured up the courage to get a quote.
Initially I had budgeted $40,000 for glazing/doors, I was shocked to see that the quote with delivery came in at 75% of what I had budgeted.
Not only was the saving great, however the cost to upgrade to triple glazing was negligible.
Manufacturing
A consideration for environmentally-minded people is that the windows are manufactured in Poland.
However when you consider other windows, most parts including glass are imported into Australia.
Therefore I was comfortable to accept that environmentally its not ideal, however the energy savings for having the thermally broken, triple-glazed windows outweighed the “Food Miles” from importing the product.
Shipping
On the 23 March 2021, the Suez Canal was blocked by the cargo ship Ever Given when it became grounded sideways in the canal.
This incident crippled shipping products across the world, and the flow-on effect lasted months.
Fortunately the windows made it through the Suez Canal unscathed.

The communication and customer service from Logikhaus is incredible. Not only are Harley & Jason so knowledgable, they’re incredibly committed to your build, and want to know the condition the windows arrived in, and talk you though the process of unpacking and installation.
Arrival Day
After a bleak July, it was amazing to have a warm 16 degree day and blue skies to greet the windows.
Matilda arrived home from work, and was here to see the forklift offload the heavy windows and diligently manoeuvre them into the shed with millimetres to work in.
